personality;; Cas is a generally cheerful person. He will chatter away with anyone about anything without a care though he doesn't always know when to shut up. Blunt, though not maliciously so, Cas doesn't see the point in beating around the bushes about subjects other's would think as "touchy." Sheltered from the horrors of the world by his loving family, Cas likes to believe in the good in everyone even if it's not really there. This makes him quite easy to deceive and coupled with his tendency of forgiving others too easily, manipulating Cas is child's play. However, while Cas is quick to forgive slights against himself, he is equally as quick to jump to the defense of the people about which he cares, armed with a cold fury, sharp tongue, and no mercy.

history;;
Born on July 17th to Henry and Catherine Mercury, Castor entered the world in the middle of the disaster that was his parent’s marriage. His father, a professional footballer forced to retire because of a knee injury, was lost deep in his alcoholism and perpetual anger. His mother, a world renowned violinist, had hoped that Castor’s birth would knock her once-beloved husband out of his downward spiral but instead the ex-athlete treated his infant son with apathy when sober and disdain otherwise. Although he has no memories of them, Cas’s early years were full of his father’s drunken rages and his mother’s shrinking patience. All came to a head on his second birthday when, in an inebriated fit, Henry chucked a bottle of Jack at Cas, that only missed him because it seemed to swerve out of the way and strike a wall. Catherine slapped Henry with divorce papers so fast his head spun and soon enough, she had returned to being Catherine Carter, given her son her last name, and moved to a new, charming flat in London. Henry only went downhill from there and died within the year in a drunk driving incident in Scotland.
With his father out of the picture, Castor childhood was pretty good. He had the unconditional love of his mother and he traveled all over the continent and the world with her on her concert tours. Even as a child, Cas loved to travel and his has many cherished memories of him dragging his mother around foreign cities to explore, a chocolate ice cream smeared on his face and a loving smile on hers. It was on these adventures that Castor fell in love with art while wondering through silent and watchful museums. In every new city, he would want to go look at the art museum and they never failed to enthrall him. He went through countless boxes of Crayons and jars of finger-paint as he made his own masterpieces. Catherine saved with care each picture that colorful little fingers handed her and convinced herself she needed more sleep when the drawings waved at her or changed colors on their own.
Castor’s life changed again when he returned to England at the age of 9 and his mother fell in love again, this time with a woman. Apolline Jones, an astrophysicist, was a warm and caring woman who Cas took to instantly and happily joined the little family a year later when she married Catherine. Castor adored his step-mother and the two could often be found lying in the yard of the family home in the country at night as Apolline taught him the names of the twinkling stars above.
On the evening of his eleventh birthday, Castor opened the door to find a man dressed in an emerald green button down, royal purple vest, and hot pink tie, who was holding out a letter and smiling while inquiring the whereabouts of his parents. Cas was instantly enraptured by the idea of magic and while his parents were less thrilled, they wanted only for Cas’s happiness and agreed to go with the man in three days time to get Cas’s school supplies. The Carter-Jones family fell in love with Diagon Alley and spent the day exploring with their guides and left the alley with heavy bags and a sleepy barred-owl named Vincent.
Sorted in Rowena’s house, Castor fell in love Hogwarts. He never seemed to lose his sense of wonder and awe when it came to magic and he threw himself into his studies to try and learn all he could. Charms came naturally to him and he breezed through Astronomy thanks to previous lessons from his step-mother. Transfiguration was also a challenge though and Cas found himself up late many nights in the Common Room trying to turn a leaf into a feather.
Cas’s favorite part of Hogwarts, though, was the portraits. The idea of moving and talking paintings was like a dream to art-obsessed boy and he often could be found talking to the portraits and learning all he could about their construction. He made it his goal to become a professional magical portrait painter and that remains his career goal today.
